WordPress Changed on Me Again

I’m not sure how I feel about the changes yet, but I do need some time to adjust.  I’ve been mad with paper writing lately, procrastinating and treading water to the point where I won’t get anything at all done, including the things I want to do.  I made a skirt for Mei, my 43cm doll and plan on making a matching top to go with it, but that is about as far as I’ve come.

I’ve also taken the head off my little hujoo doll to experiment with opening her eye sockets more and sanding her smoother.  I paid next to nothing for her, so I don’t mind the imperfections, nor the experimenting.

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Well, it’s here!  It doesnt’ quite feel like Christmas, but I’m bustling away anyway.  I have stockings to finish, a tote bag to make, and there is a turkey in the oven.  There is still much wrapping to be done, and if it’s all finished in time, I’m going to make some more pot holders.

My husband and I were talking about it, and I’m going to make an “office day” to work on my business.  I think it will be Mondays.  I’ll be working on my stock, taking photos, posting on my blog and etsy, and trying not to spend too much time on Facebook!  lol

I also am excited to start a memory jar that I saw on Pinterest.  You just take a big mason jar and as good things happen (or bad) you jot it down on a slip of paper and put it in the jar to reflect over at the end of the year.  I’m excited about this because as I am trying to reflect on 2012, I’m kind of only remember from October on.  It scares me that I remember so little of the year, but a lot has happened in my family’s lives.

My sincere prayer is that you and your family have a Merry Christmas, and that 2013 is filled with abundance!

Alive!

I swear I’m alive, I just hit a busier than busy couple of weeks and feel guilty about neglecting my blogs.  To catch you up, I’ll post some pictures =)

Picture of a quilt I’m making for a friend.  I’m doing long wavy lines for the quilting.

These fabrics are going to become a fall table runner.

Sunrise lit clouds I caught the other morning.  I looked out my window and everything was PINK!

The Venue: I’m surprised you can’t tell it’s raining in this picture- I took family portraits here for a new facebook friend.

I have so much going on, I feel like I’m running in a million different directions!  I’m going to be the Mad Hatter for Halloween, and I’m going to buy pieces and make pieces of it.  Today and tomorrow is a costume drop n swap at my church, and then next week is my last week as graphic designer for a local newspaper.  After that I’ll just be cleaning for a friend’s company, and doing Close To My Heart.

So first, Kristyne had a blog, then a pattern shop, (<—- will take you to her shop) and now, A BOOK!

It isn’t out yet, but she just dropped the bomb on her blog, www.prettybyhand.com!  <— to post about book

She is just full of surprises!  Kristyne is one of the most humble and talented bloggers I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading.  You should go visit!

No Rainbows Today

There are no rainbows today in the little KurtzCrafts world.  I try not to dwell on it, but I’m in a fair amount of pain- almost constantly.  I have a turned disc in my neck, and a bulging disc in my lower back, as well as some pinched nerves.  Some days I do okay, others I wish for something else.  I try to be positive, and think I’m lucky to have use of my legs.  (Sometimes, I’m not so positive)

Thursday and Friday were a special kind of bad, and then I visited the chiropractor for an initial visit and adjustment.  I visited a chiropractor before, but he was more expensive, and decided to move to South America… Random, I know.  So the new chiropractor x-rayed away, and then prodded, and stretched me, and then made a few adjustments.  I’m better than I was last Thursday, but I’m sitting here in my office chair with my lower back yelling at me.  If I hunch over really far, I get a little relief, but then the rest of my back is angry… *sigh*

Okay, I’m done with my little brooding session.  Thursday, Friday and Saturday I will have a booth at 2nd Chance Wood in Corunna, Michigan.  I believe the hours are from 9a-5p.  I won’t be there physically on Thursday, I have to work.  If you happen to wander out and say hello, the fair grounds are right around the corner, and the Shiawassee County Fair is going on this week!

I’ve been making tags and earring holders, I’ll have to post some pictures of my handiwork later tonight!

The war on Categories is still raging!  If you have a wordpress and you want to tackle your categories, go to your dashboard, and then on the left of the main pane, there is x number of posts, x number of pages, x number of Categories, and x number of tags.  If you click on Categories, it will show you a master list that you can add and subtract from.

Blog-like Shennanigans

So I realized how much a cluster-eff my categories and tags are.  How the heck is anyone supposed to find anything around here?!?!?!?!?!

Today I’ll be stream-lining my categories in the hopes that they will make more sense.  At first I thought categories was just another opportunity to drop a zillion keywords for SEO like operations.  That’s dumb, and I shouldn’t have done it.  I’m removing categories like cheese, and cream.  WTH was I doing anyway?!

So please pardon the dust, and the pile of mismatched letters that used to be categories until I threw them across the room.  har har.

Update:  I have it down to two pages of categories instead of four! Yipee!  Now I have to go back through and make sure everything is categorized properly, especially those pesky “uncategorized”!

I Fail

I am an utter and complete failure.  While making the quilts for kids quilt, I’ve totally screwed it up, and I’ve taken out lines upon lines of quilting, only to make it worse.  If that isn’t bad enough,  this is week four, and they asked that they be returned in three to four weeks.  Now I am trying to get it finished, but it isn’t quality enough to send back…  I don’t know what to do.  Do I just send   them some money?  Do I make some quilt tops and send them in with backing and batting for someone else to make nicer quilts with?  I suck.

So yeah, that’s where I am today.  It’s hot, I have no will to work, and I’m worried about the quilt that I’ve mussed up pretty badly.  *sigh*
