WordPress Changed on Me Again

I’m not sure how I feel about the changes yet, but I do need some time to adjust.  I’ve been mad with paper writing lately, procrastinating and treading water to the point where I won’t get anything at all done, including the things I want to do.  I made a skirt for Mei, my 43cm doll and plan on making a matching top to go with it, but that is about as far as I’ve come.

I’ve also taken the head off my little hujoo doll to experiment with opening her eye sockets more and sanding her smoother.  I paid next to nothing for her, so I don’t mind the imperfections, nor the experimenting.

Happy 2013!

Happy New Year!  How did everyone spend their last night of ’12?

I spent it without my husband, but my best friends, and it was fantastic!

Not everyone got Christmas cards, so I made some new year cards. This involved a photo and Happy New Year printed on card stock, spray adhesive, and glitter!  The flower up in the corner is recycled newspaper and the chipboard numbers are from BasicGrey’s Fact & Fiction line.  The background behind Happy New Year is glitter I found and copied and pasted til it made an entire background =)

I pray that 2013 shows you blessings beyond your wildest dreams, and you go for the gold in whatever you undertake!

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Well, it’s here!  It doesnt’ quite feel like Christmas, but I’m bustling away anyway.  I have stockings to finish, a tote bag to make, and there is a turkey in the oven.  There is still much wrapping to be done, and if it’s all finished in time, I’m going to make some more pot holders.

My husband and I were talking about it, and I’m going to make an “office day” to work on my business.  I think it will be Mondays.  I’ll be working on my stock, taking photos, posting on my blog and etsy, and trying not to spend too much time on Facebook!  lol

I also am excited to start a memory jar that I saw on Pinterest.  You just take a big mason jar and as good things happen (or bad) you jot it down on a slip of paper and put it in the jar to reflect over at the end of the year.  I’m excited about this because as I am trying to reflect on 2012, I’m kind of only remember from October on.  It scares me that I remember so little of the year, but a lot has happened in my family’s lives.

My sincere prayer is that you and your family have a Merry Christmas, and that 2013 is filled with abundance!

Popcorn Ornaments?

So theornamentgirl.com is one of my new favorite places to surf!  I just saw on her facebook a popcorn ornament and had to wander over to her blog to see it!  (click on the pic to go to the tutorial)

oooooo and I was reading through the comments and found another good idea!  If you don’t want to pop corn in a glass ornament, find the plastic ornaments that open all the way and pop it before hand!

Crafty Craft Craft!

I have been a busy little bee!  Someone asked about scarves, so I’ve been crocheting my little heart out!  I have some scarves, a few infinity scarves, and a few flowered ear warmer headband thingies… LOL I know, what a thing to call them!

I had a little fun making business cards with scrapbook supplies =)  I had some from vistaprint, but they didn’t have this blog on them, and they were just so blah… I hate to waste them =(

I’ve also been trying to sew for my tiny doll, she is proving very hard to sew for!  I’ve named her Ramona.

There was a little snow the other day, but this tree just won’t give up it’s leaves! (sorry, early morning photo and I couldn’t hold still for the exposure)

Reese’s Puff’s Muffins?  Not so sure about them…

Shopping List!

I need to make a trip to the store-  I need wood dowels to devise a display rack, wood glue for said wood dowels, hot glue sticks because I lost my bag of them, and narrow blue and white ribbon to match the fabric I’m making scrap drawstring bags out of.
How are your holiday preparations coming along?  I’m hosting Turkey Day dinner at my house on Friday, we are traveling to the Hub’s aunt’s house on Thursday.

Photographic Ramblings

I just find that pictures do more justice than me rambling on for no reason.  I especially don’t want to get myself started on politics…

I’m doing two craft shows coming up; December 1st at Baker College in Owosso, and December 2 at Gutting Law in Owosso.

November Creeping In

*sigh*  It’s almost November.  While I am excited for the holidays, I am not excited for the big bad S word and cold that hits Michigan around this time.  There was already a little icy slush this morning which made me want to cry.  The wind has been awful here, and I pray that those on the east coast are safe, warm, and dry.

Today I should be making cards and purses for the craft show this weekend, but with Halloween looming over me, I don’t want to do anything but play video games.  =P  Since I’m being a slacker, I’ll post a few pictures I’ve taken lately.

Yeah, that’s my car in the background.  This is our little ornamental tree in front of the condo.

Thanks for wandering by!  Hopefully I really will get some work done and take pictures.  Tomorrow is the big Trunk n Treat at Fowlerville United Brethren Church.  If the weather holds, it will be our biggest turn out yet, we were able to send home 2000 flyers with elementary students!!  Praise God for the schools letting us!   If you live in the Livingston County, Michigan area, we’ll be at FUB from 6-8pm, passing out candy from trunks (at least 40 trunks!) playing games inside, and feeding everyone free food!

Do you Scrapbook or Make Cards?

I’m getting the holiday season started with my Close To My Heart business, and having an online gathering.  If you’d like to look around or order, go to www.melissakurtz.ctmh.com and at some point it will ask you if you are ordering from a gathering.  There is only the one open right now. =)

I’m going to try and get it closed up Saturday or Sunday.  Below is the Stamp of the Month for October.  With the stamp of the month program, you spend $50 and get the stamp of the month for just $5.  ($17.95 regular price, and only available Oct. 1-31)

Happy Autumn!

The weather is amazing right now!  It is hovering between 60 and 70 degrees (F) here in Howell, Michigan, and I couldn’t be happier.  We are a little bit babyish when it comes to temps above 85, so this summer has been a bit like torture here.  Our electric bills have been through the roof.

This is double edged for me though, I love fall, but I hate winter.  I end up not enjoying fall because I spend too much time dreading winter.  How silly is that?  I kept thinking that I hated everything but Spring and Summer, but then I realized how much I love fall, I just hate what comes after it.  I am so sorry my dear Fall, for hating on you for no reason!

Anyway, I’ve been busy!  I have a hard time sticking with one hobby, so I’ve been sewing, crocheting, and pretty soon I’ll start getting Christmas cards made, so they’re done and out of the way before the Holiday mayhem starts.  Here are some of my latest projects:

This is a little red hoodie I made for Mei from an old t-shirt.  It was very easy!  Sorry about her messy hair, I’ve since fixed it. =)  Mei is my ball jointed doll by ResinSoul.

A happy little doll hat I crocheted, for sale on my Etsy.  Will fit BJD between 25 and 42 cm tall dolls.  I can make other sizes upon request.

I’ve been working some more on this chevron quilt, but haven’t taken any pictures of it lately, sorry!

I’ve taken to wandering around with my camera, early Fall cloud pictures are the best!

I also have some family portraits that I took for a friend that I need to edit and get onto a disc for her pronto!
