Over at quiltinggallery.com, they are doing a quilt block drive for the victims of hurricane Sandy. More crafty people are needed to assemble log cabin quilt blocks and send them in! Go here for the registration and instructions.

Cutting John Deere

Here is the beginning of my Quilts for Kids quilt with a John Deere theme.
Fabric! Fabric! Quilts For Kids
I’m on a roll! I’ve been purchasing fabric left and right like a naughty girl.
I bought these half yards on eBay from a lovely new seller. She only has a few things listed, but she’s just starting out. Go take a look, she might have a perfect fabric for your stash! (I saw some ridiculously awesome pink flamingo fabric…)
It came! It came! My Quilts for Kids kit came! I got an interesting John Deere themed package that I’m going to call Tractor Love. I may try to make a few little hearts in free motion quilting. Well, I shouldn’t get ahead of myself, I still have to piece it! (And if you’ve been paying attention, I spend much more time buying and cutting fabric than actually piecing and finishing quilts!) But I have to finish this one. This is my jump start project. I am forced to finish it, then I’ll have the juices flowing to finish up others. Plus, it isn’t too huge, I think the kit makes a lap size quilt, perfect for little hands.
Breathe in, Breathe Out
Whew! *sigh of relief* This week is officially over in KurtzCraft land! It’s Friday, and I get to spend the day doing whatever the hell I want! (Until the husband gets out of bed, and decides he wants me to wander all over God’s green earth with him for no real reason) Yes, we’ve been blessed with Fridays off together. No, I’m not the luckiest dog you’ve ever met. I get Fridays off, but then I spend the majority of my Saturday sitting in a stuffy classroom, while all the other kids are playing outside. *insert pout here* ANYWAY….
Here is my latest find from the local Salvation Army! The pastel roses is a full size flat sheet, soft and used. The print on the right is a pseudo sack cloth material that was just hanging out, probably purchased for a forgotten project. I have some real flour sacks and this will make a great addition to that collection.
Here is my amazing find from pickyourplum.com. I bought four yards, and I think it is going to be backing for the quilt that doesn’t have a pattern. (The link is back to Fabric Stash and Bathroom Decor, where the other fabrics are to go with this prize.)
Oh, and please excuse me while I gush about my new phone. My employer is amazing and bought me a Droid Razr Maxx. I think I received it mostly so I could work on other people’s phones when there was a problem. Either way, it’s frickin’ sweet! (yes, they let me buy an obnoxious case for it… We bought a lot of them, at least we’ll know which one is mine! lol)
Here’s the back view… Yes, that is a HD 1080p you see up in the corner by the camera lens!

And finally, here’s a side view with my hand for emphasis, this phone is slim! You can’t even tell it has the extended built in battery.
Okay, sorry about that. I’ve only had it a day, kind of hard to curb the enthusiasm. Yes, this is my first smart phone. (I know, I know, I’m in I.T. for goodness sake, but I never wanted to pay for the data plan!)
Chevron n New Stuff
Nighty Nite Sneak Peek
Here is a sneak peek of the fabric I just received today, I didn’t waste any time to start piecing. This quilt is going to Quilts for Kids. (no, this isn’t the kit I got from them, I’m still waiting for that.)
Happy Friday!
First day of my Holiday weekend, I’m pretty excited. (I woke up a little too early, but that’s okay) For those of you across the pond (and beyond) It’s Memorial Day weekend in the U.S.
I have to cut some fabric to fill an etsy order, do some laundry, dishes, and make room for our new washer and dryer to come tomorrow!
Yes, I’m doing laundry before the new washer comes, because it will be an HE washer and our detergent is not meant for HE use.
A few of my friends are doing a square swap to make a friendship quilt, and we picked Blueberry Crumbcake by Blackbird Designs as our fabric. (It’s a Moda fabric…) Here are some of my tiny, million triangles, I’m doing a block from the Farmer’s Wife Quilt Along Book.

On a whim this morning, I made an etsy treasury about non-white wedding dresses.
And here, is a lovely little beach coverup dress I picked up at Wal-mart for $5. I’m going to embroider on it to give it a little pop of color.
Ooooo! Sunday I’ll be taking pictures for a baptism and going to a Kurtz family picnic (at the old family farm). I’ll have to post pictures afterwards!
Fabric Stash and Bathroom Decor
So I got home from work and decided that I wanted to hang my hooks for necklaces. I’m pretty handy (when I want to be) and here is my hooks, and the earring holder I made for myself. The little white hooks came from Big Lots for $3 and also came in black or brown with silver hooks.
You like my pretty blue walls? I’m proud of the Hub, he picked it out himself.
And then here is fabric that I bought, intending them all to go together, but looking at them again, some are too bold for the others…
Some are floral, some are plaid, and some are just cute patterns. If you have a good quilt pattern in mind, I’m all ears!
Holy Crow!
So I plugged “quilt blog” into Google, and I WAS ON THE FRONT PAGE!!! *does a little jig* I am super psyched! Granted, it was actually my google+ account talking about my blog, but still! Me+front page= doesn’t happen often. I just thought I’d celebrate a little. Yipee!
Now that THAT is over… lol I am going to leave the office a little early today, and maybe organize some stash, as well as get ready to destash. What does destashing mean for you? A giveaway! Stay tuned for that in the next few days =)
Quilts for Kids
I am super excited! I opened my e-mail, read my blog subscription from Make It and Love It (link will take you to Ashley’s post)…
Long story short, they just did a post on Quilts for Kids. It’s put on by Downy, and lots and lots of volunteers.
You go to the site, request a kit, and you are sent pre-cut pieces to make a quilt! Sew a bunch of straight lines, buy some batting and assemble, then pay to mail it back! Voila! A kid in the hospital will have a snuggly, handmade quilt from you! I didn’t know, but apparently most kids are in a situation where they can’t have something to comfort them from home such as a blankie or stuffed animal, but they can have a freshly washed, handmade with love quilt. =)
I requested two kits, they said allow 1-2 weeks for processing and shipping! *jumps up and down*
