Spring Unsprung?

I feel like we can’t catch a break here in the Mitten. We went from pushing 80 to pushing 60 in a matter of a day or two. I wasn’t ready to put real shoes back on. lol

I lost two plants the other night in a hard frost, I know, my fault for not covering them.

Now that we’re sans roommate, I’m slowly organizing and moving my craft stuff into the extra closet. I’ll take a few embarrassing photos later today.

Spring has Sprunged-ded-ed

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! It’s finally Spring here in good ole Michigan! Yesterday it was 72 degrees (Fahrenheit) and didn’t get below 50 last night, and today was in the mid 60s with some light rain. A true spring weekend! I hear it’s supposed to be above 70 tomorrow too!!!

If you couldn’t tell, I may be beside myself with joy. lol

Now, onto a few pics of what’s going on around here…

I bought the two miniature kits below and am working on the dresser first. It will NOT look like that, I’m painting it white for a shabby chic look.

Just a quick post, I’m excited that spring is finally upon us poor souls in Michigan!!!
There was a pretty good thunderstorm last night, and like magic, the grass is green today and flowers are starting to poke their sleepy heads from the soil.

My boss was joking that she may have to build an ark to get to work, but I’m excited for more earth-healing rain!

Very soon I’m going to try my hand at miniatures and doll houses, we’re in the home stretch till we have a free room to become the office! I can’t remember if I posted after my roommate rant that the Hubs gave the roommate until the end of April to move out.

At some point today, if the rain lets up a little, I’ll take some photos and share my spring bliss with you!

Wow, it’s been a while, hasn’t it? I’ve missed you. In this little hiatus, I’ve turned 27, obtained a second job, and bought another ball jointed doll. I sold one, and sold another’s head. I feel a little awful about a headless doll sitting next to my sewing machine, but someone wanted badly to buy the head for a body they already had. Who was I to say no? =)
My next crafty endeavor (well, one of a few) is to create an extravagant ball gown for that headless body. A challenge was issued on a facebook page I frequent, and well, I’m picturing dark blue taffeta in waves with a peacock feather beaded on the bodice. I may be a little nuts, but at least it’s doll sized, not human sized. You’re talking to the illusions of grandeur dreamer that was thinking she would make herself a ball gown for prom with grandma’s sewing machine. I still have all that green material sitting in a cedar chest and a chuckle in my heart over that one. The doll dress? Doable.

I’m in a bit of a fit over spring taking its time getting here. The weather was so nice over the weekend, and now we have 35 degrees and flurries. I could almost cry.
OH! This next Saturday I will be attending an all day craft day with my cousin. My trusty Viking Rose is coming along with and a mountain of projects that need to be sewn. I’ll take the opportunity of peace and workspace!
Sorry for such a long post, but I have a lot on the brain!

We’re struggling with the roommate that has lived with us longer than I have. My husband purchased our condo in 2009 and we decided to let the roommate move in immediately. He was in a bad situation, and I agreed for a temporary housing. In 2010 my husband and I married, and our roommate didn’t bat an eyelash. It’s now 2013 and it is becoming increasingly difficult to live with this human being. He is dirty, he smells, won’t clean up after himself but asserts that he does, and has recently voiced his opinion on my lack of housekeeping skills. I almost kicked him out right then and there. I don’t keep very good house because I work two jobs and well, what’s the point when five minutes later a slob comes behind you and makes a worse mess than was there when you cleaned?!?! He is also extremely negative and has made an avid hobby of complaining and why me-ing. He is quite adept. It is to the point where I don’t want to sit in my own living room because there he is, lying on his couch with his shirt exposing rotund belly, smelling like unwashed unmentionables and clearing his throat with a sound that can only be described as dry heaving. *sigh* I’m sorry, my rant is over now.

Oh, and I had a mini adventure at Kensington Metro Park! I was stalked by Chickadees, and then greeted quite warmly by a large Sandhill Crane. He went for my wedding ring til he realized it wasn’t food! I’ll have to edit those pics and post!!

WordPress Changed on Me Again

I’m not sure how I feel about the changes yet, but I do need some time to adjust. I’ve been mad with paper writing lately, procrastinating and treading water to the point where I won’t get anything at all done, including the things I want to do. I made a skirt for Mei, my 43cm doll and plan on making a matching top to go with it, but that is about as far as I’ve come.

I’ve also taken the head off my little hujoo doll to experiment with opening her eye sockets more and sanding her smoother. I paid next to nothing for her, so I don’t mind the imperfections, nor the experimenting.

Happy New Year! How did everyone spend their last night of ’12?

I spent it without my husband, but my best friends, and it was fantastic!

Not everyone got Christmas cards, so I made some new year cards. This involved a photo and Happy New Year printed on card stock, spray adhesive, and glitter! The flower up in the corner is recycled newspaper and the chipboard numbers are from BasicGrey’s Fact & Fiction line. The background behind Happy New Year is glitter I found and copied and pasted til it made an entire background =)

I pray that 2013 shows you blessings beyond your wildest dreams, and you go for the gold in whatever you undertake!

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Well, it’s here! It doesnt’ quite feel like Christmas, but I’m bustling away anyway. I have stockings to finish, a tote bag to make, and there is a turkey in the oven. There is still much wrapping to be done, and if it’s all finished in time, I’m going to make some more pot holders.

My husband and I were talking about it, and I’m going to make an “office day” to work on my business. I think it will be Mondays. I’ll be working on my stock, taking photos, posting on my blog and etsy, and trying not to spend too much time on Facebook! lol

I also am excited to start a memory jar that I saw on Pinterest. You just take a big mason jar and as good things happen (or bad) you jot it down on a slip of paper and put it in the jar to reflect over at the end of the year. I’m excited about this because as I am trying to reflect on 2012, I’m kind of only remember from October on. It scares me that I remember so little of the year, but a lot has happened in my family’s lives.

My sincere prayer is that you and your family have a Merry Christmas, and that 2013 is filled with abundance!
